As the world still grieves the unthinkable attack in London, Americans are waking up to horror in the homeland this morning after what just took place in Florida this morning. As we approach the anniversary of the Pulse nightclub terror attack in Orlando, the southern state was hit once again and the timing cannot be a coincidence. Now, the country awaits a briefing on the incident as police are about to address the nation.
Orange County Sheriffs Office is responding to the crime scene right now that is said to be contained, in that the perpetrator is not actively killing anymore. The Orlando Sentinel reports that there are multiple fatalities after a gunman opened fire in what appears to be an industrial park area. Although details are scant at the moment, it’s believed that the shooting took place at or near Full Sail Universtiy.
“OCSO working shooting scene that has stabilized. Multiple fatalities. Situation contained. Sheriff will brief as soon as info is accurate,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a tweet this morning as a brief address of what has been a bloody start to the week.
The Orlando Sentinel has more with what one witness to the shooting explained of the horrifying events that unfolded, leading to a number of fatalities today.
“Shelley Adams said her sister works at Fiamma, a business that makes awnings for campers. She said her sister was in the bathroom when she heard shots. ‘She came out and saw a man on the floor,’ she said.”
“Adams said her sister is OK and was taken to a nearby fire department training facility. ‘God had his hand on her,’ she said.”
“The Orange County Fire and Rescue Training and Command Simulation Academy is about a half-mile away. An employee there would only say, ‘We’ve had some things going on here today’.”

It’s unknown at this time why someone would shoot up a business or who is responsible for doing it. This incident is being referred to as “Workplace violence” at the moment, which seems to be the immediate description of all attacks from the start. Liberals will be quick to jump on this to blame the gun, the NRA, conservatives, and probably President Trump as well, in a way that they would never blame Islam for terrorism.
Florida’s Governor Rick Scott made a public statement about the attack this morning:
“Over the past year, the Orlando community has been challenged like never before. I have been briefed by our law enforcement officials on this tragic incident and Ann and I are praying for the families who lost loved ones today. I ask all Floridians to pray for the families impacted by this senseless act of violence. I will remain in contact with the Orlando law enforcement community throughout the day as more information is made available,”
Police will soon announce the number of fatalities along with details of who did this and why. The FBI and joint terror task force are on the scene working to determine what unfolded in this building where workers were simply doing their job one minute and dead the next. It’s important that they determine the facts first before briefing the public since it’s likely to spark a debate among political parties about who or what to control next. Sadly, this is the state of the nation we live in where people will go rogue and commit heinous acts like this for reasons that can’t be controlled no matter what rules are set in Washington, D.C.
In just one week from now, Orlando will be recognizing the anniversary of the deadliest shooting in U.S. history, where 49 people were shot to death by a Muslim gunman. This latest event this week brings back all those raw emotions and reminds everyone of the world we live in today. People aren’t safe to go out anymore or even just go to work without the fear of who could be coming through that door with a vengeance and disturbing plan. We must not let our guard down and stay alert at all times to protect ourselves and our families. We also must stop making excuses for these killers, regardless the reason that made them kill.
